I am finally HERE in the lovely state of South Carolina!! Things are just beginning to seem real as the one week mark approaches. Over the past few days, all 94 students have been getting to know each other through time at the beach, games, bible studies, impact teams (one women's and one men's bible study teamed up), social events, job searching, numerous trips (drives & walks) to Wal-Mart, and eventually by place of employment. There are 54 women and 40 men officially on our North Myrtle Beach Summer Project for 2009--although this does not include the 20+ staff members here with us. I have been assigned to the Shamrock Apartments, lower left corner, also called "Rock." [There are four apartments on the front side, each with a corresponding name: Sham, Wow, & Solid are a few of the other women].
I have been blessed to live with five other women from all over the Midwest area: Elizabeth (UW-Oskosh); Britta (St. Cloud State), Jenna (UND); Shannon (UW-Green Bay) &Traci (MNSU). Our bible study/discipleship leader is Emily, who has been and is still currently on staff in Iowa. Even in the short time that we have been living together here, we have already begun our bonding :) To give you a little taste of what my schedule will look like this summer, please read on.

As you can tell, I will definitely be keeping busy this summer!! Amongst what is planned, we must additionally set aside daily quiet times with the Lord and continue to get to know our fellow brothers and sisters out here on project (there are quite a few to get to know!) Later this week we will all be choosing leadership roles for different ministry teams this summer--I will post more about this when I get more information on it.
Our theme for this week is "Thirsting for God" so I will leave you with this verse we have just begun discussing. Please pray that we will all continue to seek the Lord this week and thirst for his knowledge, truth, & love, especially as we begin our ministries at our places of work.
"As a deer pants for flowing streams, so pants my soul for you, O God. My soul thirsts for God, for the living God. When shall I come and appear before God?" -Psalm 42: 1-2
